Goals and success

  1. What does a successful outcome look like in one sentence?
  2. What metric or signal will tell you it worked?
  3. What have you already tried?

People and decisions

  1. Who is the single decision-maker for yes/no?
  2. Who else must review or approve?
  3. How do you prefer feedback (async comments, calls, shared doc)?

Scope and constraints

  1. What must be in v1 vs. later?
  2. What is explicitly out of scope?
  3. What assets, logins, or brand materials do you already have?
  4. Any hard legal, brand, or technical constraints?

Time and money

  1. What’s the real deadline — and what happens if you miss it?
  2. What’s the budget band for this phase?
  3. Are you ready to start with a deposit on acceptance?

Working style

  1. How fast do you need replies during the project?
  2. Anything that made past freelancers frustrating for you?
